- What is the IT Strategic Plan?
- The IT Strategic Plan (PDF) was developed in Fall 2003 in support of the campus strategic plan and to provide a frame of reference to guide campus decisions regarding information technology planning, prioritization, and funding.
- The development of the UC Davis IT Strategic Plan was initiated in early Fall 2002 when John Bruno, Vice Provost for Information and Educational Technology, and John Meyer, Vice Chancellor for Resource Management and Planning, circulated a draft IT Strategic Plan among key campus advisory committees. The draft outlined a vision, priorities, goals, and sample initiatives designed to advance the mission of the university with regard to teaching, research, and outreach. This effort coincided with, and built upon the development of, the strategic plan for the campus.

- IT Strategic Plan Workgroup Leads (PDF) this document list campus constituents who provided valuable input for each of the strategic priorities identified early in the planning process. The recommendations and feedback from each of the workgroups were integrated into the IT Strategic Plan for UC Davis.
- How was the list of UC Davis IT projects developed, and how is it updated?
- The current list of IT projects is the culmination of ongoing consultations and discussions with deans, vice chancellors, and vice provosts, as well as various campus-wide groups such as the Campus Council for Information Technology (which includes student, faculty, and staff representatives) and the UC Davis Technology Infrastructure Forum (technology leads from all schools, colleges and administrative units).
- This list is updated each year to reflect the status of projects already underway and to integrate new campus needs and priorities. In brief, the IT planning process includes the following:
- Annual discussions with deans, vice provosts, vice chancellors, and the University Librarian
- A review of the 2003 WASC recommendations
- The deliberations of the Campus Council for Information Technology and the UC Davis Technology Infrastructure Forum
- The system-wide New Business Architecture report and associated UC Davis NBA Initiative
- Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, under Vice Provost Bruno’s advisement and taking into consideration feedback received from campus groups and constituents, sets campus-wide IT priorities. The overarching goal of the priority-setting process is described in her memo to John Bruno as developing
". . . priorities that enable us to leverage existing resources, as well as investments of one-time and permanent funding, in support of the UC Davis Strategic Plan." - Where can I access more information about the 2003-04 review process and resulting list ofcampus-wide IT projects?
