Student Billing Statement
Improve the student billing statement to eliminate the confusion it is creating among students and parents (and to address the resulting increase in requests for support to campus service units) Description:
Inquiries made of SCT, Corp. have revealed that due to the vastly divergent needs of their customer base, which consists of community colleges, private schools, and public universities, no SCT-coordinated project to re-write the bill provided in the shipped Banner product is feasible.
This proposed project would begin with a cooperative effort between Student Affairs, the Office of Administration, the Graduate Student Association, and ASUCD to identify and poll a focus group of students to better understand their needs for an understandable yet comprehensive billing statement. This research would then be used to elucidate requirements and conduct a build versus buy analysis of commercially available software that interfaces with Banner to generate billing statements.
Following the analysis, either a purchased product would be implemented, or IET would be commissioned with writing a custom billing program for the campus. In either case, the requirements outlined using the focus group(s) would provide the guiding principals for the implementation.
